The Institute of Computer Engineers of the Philippines (ICpEP) proudly hosted the CpE Challenge 2025 at NU Fairview, bringing together top students, educators, and professionals from across the country. The two-day event served as a platform to test knowledge, showcase skills, and explore the role of artificial intelligence in engineering’s next era.

Opening Ceremony: Kicking Off with Unity and Inspiration

The program officially opened with welcoming remarks from Dr. Christina R. Corpuz, followed by messages from ICpEP National Officers, academic leaders, and representatives from NU Fairview. The Oath of Professionalism set the tone of integrity and excellence, followed by a cultural intermission featuring a Tausug presentation, reflecting Filipino identity in tech education.

The orientation guided participants through contest mechanics, schedules, and judging criteria—led by the event’s organizing heads and committee chairs.


Day 1: Showcasing Technical Brilliance

Competitions began immediately, bringing out the best from various regions:

Quiz Bowl
Participants from different schools tested their theoretical knowledge in computer engineering fundamentals.

Logic Circuit Breadboarding
Hands-on electronic design challenges judged by panelists from both academia and industry.

Programming Contest
Students raced to solve algorithmic problems under pressure, using real-world logic and clean code implementation.

Robothon
Participants showcased their own custom-built robots, with challenges focused on obstacle navigation, task automation, and design efficiency.

Mobile Legends Tournament
Combining strategy, teamwork, and real-time decision-making, students competed in an e-sports-style gaming showdown—bridging technical skills and digital teamwork.


Student Convention: Knowledge Exchange for the Future

Parallel to the contests, the Student Convention brought impactful talks from renowned speakers:

  • Engr. Roman M. Richard shared ideas on high-performance computing in solving complex engineering problems.

  • Dr. Cherry D. Casuat, PCpE discussed AI tools for smarter research and innovation, encouraging students to integrate modern tools into their academic and future professional work.

Both sessions were well-received and included interactive Q&A, allowing students to gain direct insights from experts.


Day 2: Emerging Technologies and Grand Finals

The second day continued with equally engaging activities and final rounds:

Talks and Forums

  • Mr. Florante P. Sangrenes presented AI and Automation’s Impact on Future Engineering Jobs, offering a forward-thinking look at the workforce of tomorrow.

  • Jan Fermin E. Valencia discussed Security Considerations in Emerging Technologies, addressing risks and best practices in a digitally transforming world.

Grand Finals

  • The Quiz Bowl and Robothon returned with final rounds that showcased the sharpest minds and most creative builds.

  • The Mobile Legends finals saw top teams battle for the championship title in a thrilling match watched by students and faculty alike.


Awards and Closing Program

The event concluded with an awarding ceremony led by Engr. Catherine M. Verallo and Dr. Corazon Rebong, recognizing winners and participants with trophies, medals, and certificates. Delegates received participation certificates as a mark of their commitment to excellence.


The CpE Challenge is more than just a competition. It builds confidence, connection, and collaboration among aspiring computer engineers. With AI and emerging technologies at the center of today’s discussions, events like these help shape well-rounded, future-ready professionals.
