WIT STORIES: Where Wisdom Guides, Integrity Leads, and Truth Inspires Their Journey
Highlights from the ICpEP-KSA President, Engr. Hazel Galas Lampitoc
A Journey of Growth, Leadership, and Legacy from Iloilo to International Leadership in Technology and Education.
From the heart of Iloilo to international leadership in the fields of technology and education, my journey has been shaped by the values instilled in me at the Western Institute of Technology (WIT).
I am Engr. Hazel Galas Lampitoc, a proud graduate of BS Computer Engineering, Class of 2002, and currently serving as the President of ICpEP-KSA. My story is one of resilience, purpose, and a deep desire to give back to the community that molded me.
How WIT Helped Shape My Journey

WIT played a transformative role in shaping both my personal and professional life. It provided a strong foundation in computer engineering, leadership, and interdisciplinary education. My experiences at WIT helped me develop the expertise, resilience, and vision necessary for success. Here’s how:
Strong Academic Foundation
WIT equipped me with the technical knowledge and critical thinking skills that became the backbone of my career in technology, security, and healthcare IT. The rigorous academic training and emphasis on problem-solving refined my analytical abilities and prepared me for real-world challenges.
Leadership and Professional Growth
WIT nurtured my leadership abilities and helped me build confidence. These early experiences prepared me for key roles in professional organizations such as the Institute of Computer Engineers of the Philippines (ICpEP) and the Philippine Professional Organization (PPO) in Saudi Arabia.
Innovation and Practical Experience
The hands-on curriculum encouraged me to innovate and apply engineering principles to practical scenarios. Whether in biomedical technology or banking security systems, WIT gave me the tools to succeed and excel.
Personal Growth and Core Values
Discipline, resilience, and a commitment to excellence were deeply embedded in my time at WIT. These values guided me through challenges in both my professional and personal life and inspired me to pursue a Master of Education in Mathematics.
Recognition and Legacy
Being named Outstanding Alumnus in 2025 was a humbling experience. It affirmed how WIT’s training helped shape me into a leader and educator. The institution’s emphasis on continuous learning also allowed me to earn prestigious certifications, including accreditation from the Saudi Council of Engineers.
